I did a few more drawings today. The reemer (is that how it's spelt???) is done in a green Derwent Graphitint...one is wet, the other dry. I was actually quite nervous about the 'wet' drawing, but i think that it came out pretty well!
The fossil came from England; Hastings, I think! I used pens for the drawing (#.8, # .3, & #.1), which was really hard!. I think that you have to have a lot of confidence in yourself as a drawer, to use them well. More practice required, I'm sure!
The lettuce seedlings and basil got planted today, which was good and the tomatoes are growing well, so hopefully some of them soon!
The trials and tribulations of someone who would like to consider herself a textile artist (amongst other things), but invariably feels quite inadequate!

Trying to add a photo
I'll see if it works this time...and it did, though at the top of the post!?!
This is the 'shoe' drawing I did for C&G Creative Quilting...it's a red Indian bridal shoe with sequins and beads...very pretty!

No pictures, yet!
Gave the scarves for Christmas presents and no, didn't take photos, 'cos I forgot! But, more dyes arrived, so there will be a bit more scarf action in the coming weeks...
I've added some links to other blogs and websites this morning, as I try and work out how this blog works and I thought that I'd try adding a photo as well, so here goes...
no, can't work it out...will need to get the resident tecchie in, I think!

Scarves!
Decided to try and dye some scarves for Christmas presents, so went to Beautiful Silks and bought 10 ready-2-dye silk/linen mix scarves!
I used Procion dyes - the first two use used raspberry/dark purple; then mixes of turquoise, red and yellow. The yellow/red mix was VERY bright, so have just overdyed with a conbination of Antique yellow/burnt orange, so hopefully will tone down a bit.
I will post some pics, when I work out how!

Newbie!
This is my first play at having my own blog! Whilst I have followed quite a few ( hi, Dale @ Thread Studio!), I have never felt that my life was interesting enough to bother telling the wicked world of the web all about it!
As your will soon gather, if anyone bothers to read this missive I tend to use exclamation marks a great deal; am obsessed with U2 (which has recently been saited - two spectacular shows at Docklands - yes, I did go to both and had quality mother and daughter time, into the bargain!); and love, love, love, anything to do with textiles...reading about them, touching them, dying them, sewing them, embroidering them, burning them...I think that you get the idea! I should also confess to a book addiction and I do tend to have a spectactular supply of 'stuff' to use in the aim of great textile art, a la Beaney and Littlejohn, Design Matters and, again, Dale Rollerson!
I am currently enrolled in Linda and Laura Kemshall's C&G course for Creative Quiltmaking (yes, I do that too!), which I mainly enrolled in, to get over my phobia of sketchbooks, drawing, planning and designing work. I will use this blog to let the cyberworld know my progress, or not!
It would be nice to know if someone bothered to read this, but then maybe it's just the act of putting our there that is the most important!:)
